Licensing School Registration Form
Dates: May 11 - July 25, 2026

Location: First United Methodis Church of Hurst

(521 W. Pipeline Rd, Hurst, TX 76053)

Before attending the HTC Licensing School, candidates must read the following steps to ensure they are adequately prepared and registered:

Detailed hybrid Schedule (Zoom meetings at 6:30pm):
- Online Orientation (Zoom) - Monday, May 11
- In-Person Training Session - Thurs, May 28 to Fri, May 29 at FUMC Hurst
- Weekly Zoom Meetings - June 8, 15, 22,& 29 and July 6 and July 13
- In-Person Training Session - July 23 to July 25 at FUMC Hurst
Cost & Registration:
- Registration Fee: $200.00
- The fee covers Licensing School materials, meals, & hotel accommodations for the in-person events (if needed).
Who should attend:
- Must be a certified candidate
- Required for candidates on the Local Pastor track in the Horizon Texas Conference.
- Highly recommended for all candidates on the ordination track.
Licensing school will provide the following:
- Specific preparation and training for a first appointment
- Introduction to Horizon Texas Conference
- Practical training in preaching with an opportunity to preach, sermon preparation, communion, baptism, conducting funerals and weddings, crafting a worship service, pastoral care, and administration.
- A focus on Wesleyan theology including how to articulate that theology in preparation for interviews, as well as, in preparation for ministry.
- Targeted sessions on spiritual formation and self care for the pastor
- Sessions on evangelism and mission
- Introduction to fellow clergy from all tracks who can provide support throughout the process toward licensing or ordination.
- Peer support
IMPORTANT: Registration & Certification Requirements:
- If you are not yet certified, please include your anticipated certification date, district name, and certification interview date below.
- The full $200 registration fee is due at the time of registration.
- Please note that registration is contingent upon certification. You must be certified by your DCOM during the April/May 2025 interview period in order to attend Licensing School.
- If you register but are not certified by May 9, 2025, you will be eligible for a refund of your registration fee.
Licensing School Components:
- Online Curriculum that includes videos, readings, and assignments.
- Six Zoom Sessions that will provide instruction and opportunities to discuss the online curriculum
- Two in-person events led by clegry from the Horizon Texas Conference
