Continuing Education (CE) Funds

Continuing Education Funds are available to all appointed clergy of the Horizon Texas Conference, including clergy in full connection, local pastors, and those who are commissioned ministers. The Board of Ordained Ministry is responsible for setting minimal standards and specific guidelines for continuing formation (education) for members of the conference and ensuring the availability of such programs.

CONTINUING EDUCATION FUNDS

The Horizon Texas Conference requires each clergy under appointment to complete 30 contact hours (=3 c.e.u.’s) of Continuing Education per year. Continuing education events shall fit into the applicant’s goals for professional development as stated in the Charge Conference report and may include spiritual formation. The selection committee will give priority to events sponsored by the Horizon Texas Conference. These events may be planned by a district or a cluster of professionals within the HTC, or be events designed by a UMC agency in the bounds of the Conference.
CE Fund Details

Continuing Education Grants may be approved for up to 1/3 of the total cost of an event, not to exceed $1,400 in total grants awarded over a four year period. Exceptions to this guideline will be based on need and available funds. Priority is given to those whose church has matched the requested grant funds. Continuing Education Grants are not available for aid in any degree program (i.e. DMin, MDiv). *Note: All Continuing Education grants are based on fund availability and are not guaranteed.
